On a beautiful September day, Kayla and Stephen celebrated their Mill at Fine Creek Wedding with all their family and friends surrounding them.

These two met in Richmond over Labor Day weekend in 2020. They were both enjoying a pool day and magically, their paths crossed. Fast forward to their wedding day, and their connection is palpable. (I actually met Kayla many years before when she was still in high school! She was a TV station intern when I still worked in television!)

The wedding day kicked off by photographing the small details, which is always one of our favorite parts because we enjoy seeing the sentimental pieces each couple includes for their big day. Kayla had a sentimental necklace wrapped on her bouquet, featuring the birthstones of the bride, her siblings, and her niece. This meaningful piece belonged to Kayla's mom, adding a touch of family history.

Stephen and Kayla wanted an Italian garden theme wedding with a subtle nod to stone. The Mill at Fine Creek was the perfect choice for their wedding venue. Kayla's bridesmaids looked stunning in a light green shade with a floral pattern, while the groomsmen rocked light gray tuxes. The florals tied everything together with a beautiful mix of creams, light pink, and greenery.

One of the day's highlights was their first look at the Mill's ruins. Once they saw one another, then they exchanged private vows. The setting was perfect and intimate for them to have genuine emotions. The Mill at Fine Creek, nestled in Powhatan, offers many unique and beautiful backdrops for wedding day photo locations.

The rustic pergola was the backdrop for their wedding ceremony, with two floral statements adding an extra touch of elegance. It was such a beautiful day for Kayla and Stephen to share their vows, surrounded by their closest friends and family.

They opted for speeches to be at the rehearsal dinner the night before, creating more of an intimate atmosphere for sharing stories and well-wishes without interrupting the flow of the wedding day.

Kayla and Stephen's creativity shone through as they crafted the stone table numbers, adding a personal and handmade touch to the reception space. (And check them out—they look so cool!)

As the sun set, photographers Janine and Derek stepped outside with the couple for some incredible sunset portraits. The golden glow through the trees added another layer of beauty to their wedding day.

The reception celebrated joy and music curated by the newlyweds themselves. The dance floor was alive with energy, thanks to a playlist filled with songs meant for singing along. They even added a funny photo of one of their friends to the DJ booth as a joke, letting the DJ know that groomsman was not allowed to make requests! It was a great blend of heartfelt moments and joyous celebration.

Before the bubble exit to mark the end of their day, Stephen and Kayla shared a private last dance. While their guests went outside and lined up for the exit, this gave the two of them the chance to savor the final moments of their wedding day.
