Murray Hill Wedding in Loudon County | Megan & Josiah
Murray Hill Events Wedding in Leesburg, Virginia
The bride’s beloved horses joined Megan and Josiah for their beautiful Murray Hill Events Wedding in Leesburg, VA.
Josiah and Megan were both attending Millersville University in Pennsylvania when they met at a Bible study group. Megan is currently in graduate school at the University of South Carolina, while Josiah is finishing his bachelor’s degree in Pennsylvania.

During finals week, he decided to fly down and spend time with her. He took her to Lake Murray Dam, where they had previously added a lock to the chain-link fence of the dam. Megan asked him if he wanted to take a picture with their lock, but instead, Josiah told her he had a better idea and got down on one knee and proposed! They were so excited to be engaged officially. However, because it was finals week, they had to study afterward instead of celebrating!
There were many sweet touches to their wedding day. Megan’s “something old” was a penny that her grandmother, mother, and aunt had each carried with them at their weddings!
Her wedding dress was partially made from her mom’s wedding dress. She wore boots that she got while in high school and has pretty much worn every day, and even wore them to walk across the stage at her college graduation. I love when our couples incorporate meaningful, sentimental touches into their wedding day!
Megan shared an emotional first look with both her parents before the ceremony! It was one of the sweetest parts of the whole day, as they cherished how beautiful their daughter looked. Megan and Josiah chose to wait to see each other until the ceremony, but they did share a first touch at the corner of a doorway. Josiah was blindfolded, and they exchanged letters and gifts and prayed together before becoming husband and wife.
A unique part of their day included Megan’s two horses, Whisper and Tia. Each horse wore floral crowns and collars made similar to the bouquets the bridesmaids carried. Megan chose Murray Hill Events wedding venue because it was one of the few locations she was able to bring her horses to share the day! The couple had her horses in some of their wedding photos, giving somewhat of an enchanting, fairytale storybook feeling to their wedding portraits.
The bridesmaids wore dusty blue dresses because Josiah and Megan share their love for the color blue. Megan’s favorite flower is a sunflower; therefore, most florals were sunflowers with greenery.
Their reception included long wooden farm tables with hints of greenery and pictures in clear glass milk bottle vases. The three-sided barn at Murray Hill gave everyone the opportunity of feeling included in everything. If guests want to sit inside and watch the dances and see what’s happening outside, they can do so. There were fun outdoor games, tons of people were busting out their dance moves, and many laughs. They ended their perfect night with a fun sparkler exit.
Josiah and Megan, you two were an absolute dream to work with, and we thank you for letting us be part of your special day!
