Lauren and Nick’s Dominion Club Wedding in Fall was filled with classic elegance and everything they dreamed of.
These two met while attending George Mason University and living in the same dorm. As soon as they met, they became great friends. Even when life led Nick to enlist in the Air Force, their friendship endured the distance. Years later, they became a couple and discovered they were meant to be together.
Nick and Lauren envisioned a wedding filled with a neutral color palette. White, ivory, and pops of green brought their vision to life.
It was a gorgeous fall day in November. The Dominion Club provided a picturesque backdrop with the leaves changing and the sun casting a golden glow over everything.
The moment photographer Emily arrived, she went in to see Nick, who jumped up and ran over and gave her the sweetest bear hug. "I'm so excited you're here! We've been so looking forward to you coming." Meeting Lauren, nearly the identical greeting happened. Both times Emily nearly teared up. We just LOVE when our couples connect with us so deeply that they are just as excited about our presence as another friend or family member.
It set the tone for the entire day. This was a wedding among friends, dearly loved friends. They were extremely deferential to photography advice and ideas, and between that trust in their photographer and the help from Tatiana at Simply Charmed, the day ran absolutely flawlessly. Despite a tight pre-ceremony timeline, we ran about 20+ minutes ahead of schedule the entire time!
Their ceremony was absolutely lovely. A sweet testament to their love, the reverend's homily was beautiful and spoke so much wisdom on love and commitment to Lauren & Nick and their guests. And Lauren looked stunning.
After their wedding ceremony, we dove into all the wedding portraits. The golf cart ride around for portraits gave us stunning views and glorious sun-drenched light!! The Dominion Club's event team was so incredibly hospitable and helpful. Nick and Lauren looked great together, and their sweet personalities shone through every photo.
Lauren's sister's speech was so incredibly sweet. The photographers admit to tearing up alongside most other people.
Their reception was an absolute party! The DJ did an amazing job emceeing -- he really got the audience going so easily! He introduced a fun game to get everyone on the dancefloor. He had one person at each table hold up a napkin. Then they played hot potato with that napkin for a few seconds of a song. The person left with the napkin became the "party captain" in charge of getting people on the dance floor. We were skeptical it would work, but it worked LIKE A CHARM, and people loved it! So clever.
It was such a joy to capture Lauren and Nick’s wedding day! We wish you both a lifetime filled with happiness and fun adventures!
